Rest & Balance makes you better.

Taking days off are substantially beneficial.

I learned recently how to truly take breaks. After immense burn out & overworking for years, I have proudly prioritized self care and taking time off, pamper days and taking care of your sanity integrated into my hustle.

I’m a big advocate for spa days and sauna every day, I actually have one of those portable dry saunas at home now but when you sit in it you look a bit silly hehe. But no one’s watching & I do it for me.

This rest helps you not only reset, and feel fresh for clarity on next steps. Relaxing and taking days off are substantially beneficial. It’s healthier for you and gives you that moment to step away from the constant action, making the next motions more effective than if you had kept going.

It’s like if you just keep doing laps around the racecourse without first making sure your wheels are in good shape, the friction & the speed that you accelerate at wont help, if your vehicle to get to where you want to go has no wheels left.

This rest stop looks different for everyone - Some rest are in forms of indulgence, not just self care days or a vacation. Maybe it’s in the form of energy exertion like the gym, dancing.

The reality of needing this pit stop is that it can even be in less positive known forms like drinking even - But whatever it is that you do for you - this action that helps you feel happy & at ease.

This actually helps your overall efficiency levels making your momentum meaningful.

Too often, we get into moving forward, overworking and doing so many things that don’t move the needle.

If you go too hard in one area, may that be work or just focused attention - yes the discipline helps towards goals but you don’t want to start resenting or disliking the journey to getting there.

Adding balance is key.

There’s nothing wrong with immersion and for specific goals, I believe that it’s totally necessary sometimes.

But there’s also knowing your limits. Giving yourself the grace & space to reset.

Enjoy your weekends, even the week, turn off from the internet and get outside. Do something odd or that you wouldn’t normally do.

Try a different environment - why not.

I can’t believe how long it really took me to seriously see that even if you paused for a little, its not going to hurt your outcomes - if you don’t show up consistently for your goals, that will show.

But taking moments for recovery as a season to allow new seeds to grow - that’s not bad at all.

So what do you do to rest & add balance into your life? What’s your favorite way to wind down and chill?
